Teaching Plan Unit 6 I’m watching TV. (Section B 3a--3b) Teaching Goals: Knowledge Goals 1. Learn some new words and phrases. 2. Go on learning the present progressive tense: S + be (am/is/are) + V-ing…….. 3. Learn to describe the activities people are doing using the present progressive tense by reading the short passage in 3a. Ability Goal: Students can write a composition about what people are doing using the present progressive tense.( S + be(am/is/are)+ V-ing……..) Emotion Goal: Students are more interested in learning English and observe people and things more carefully. Focuses and Difficulties: 1. The sentence patterns: What are you doing? I am doing...Is he/she doing his homework? Yes, he is/No, he isn’t……. 2. Writing a composition using the present progressive tense(S + be (am/is/are) + V-ing……..) Teaching Steps: 1. Guide the new lesson. Ask some students some questions: Eg: T: What is he/she doing? S: He/She is listening to the teacher. 2. Revision. The structure of the present progressive tense: S + be (am/is/are)+ V-ing…….. 3. Show the teaching goals. 4. Learn 3a. Guide the students to fill in the blanks according to the picture. I give them some methods to fill in the blanks. 5. I give them some pictures about what people are doing. Guide them to write a composition using the present progressive tense according to 3a. Students discuss it in groups. 6. I ask three students to write their compositions on the blackboard. We correct mistakes together. 7. Do some exercises to practice the present progressive tense. 8.
