All departments of Enterprises set up their own databases in order to meet the needs of users, but these databases are often heterogeneous, so the users of one department are difficult to query information from the other department database. Information forms an island and can not achieve to share, which severely restricts the production, and impacts development of enterprises. Enterprises need to bring together all departments of the information, letting enterprise and corporate users outside rapidly query at the same platform, which led heterogeneous database integration technology to be applied, and in order to make information transmission achieve a uniform standard, XML technology will be applied. XML-based heterogeneous database integration technology is not making any changes to the bottom of various enterprise heterogeneous databases, which makes the various heterogeneous databases information to be a unified XML format. It allows users to transparently access various heterogeneous databases, which realize resources to be shared. This article first introduce the design of the background which is national power systems of XML-based power system heterogeneous database integration middleware (XML-SPDI middleware), and analyze its architecture, system problems and requirements. And it then expound on related technology theory which is required for designing XML-SPDI middleware, XML and middleware technology, then details of XML-SPDI middleware design goals, architecture, the internal logic, workflow, functional components, as well as the working principle, And then set out to core technology which realize XML-SPDI middleware, that is, the JavaBean technology, database connection pool technology, XML database and mapping patterns of the mechanism, and the realization of XML-SPDI middl
