This unit aims to describe the weather and what you are doing. It’s closed to students’ daily life, meanwhile they have strong curiosity about how to use English in their daily life. Teaching objectives: Knowledge and skill:90% of students can describe the weather using the adjectives, such as windy, cloudy, sunny and so on. Learning strategies: 70%of students can forecast the weather in different cities and call each other to know what the other is doing. Affect and attitude: Students can greet their friends on telephone to show their concern for the others. Teaching focus: Students can describe the weather in different cities and call each other to know what the other is doing. Teaching method: TBLT, work in pairs to practice conversation. Teaching aids: multimedia(PPT), board and chalk, realia(pictures with weather signals) Teaching procedure: Lead in warm up: Before we begin our class, let’s watch a video clip. T: What’s she doing? S: She is forecasting the weather. T: We learnt about many words about weather, so can you think of those words? Activity ①Brain-storming: List the adjectives on the board. ②Put out the cards with weather signals to figure out what weather it is. Presentation: Q: How to ask the weather? I want to know the weather in Handan? How’s the weather in Handan? It’s cloudy. Activity-To be a reporter Pair work: Give students 2minutes to report the weather. Then choose two students to show their report. (7-8 minutes) Practice 1b Listening comprehension: There are four conversations. They talk about five cities. Listen and describe the weather in those cities. 1c Imagine you are in one of the five cities.
