Correspondent: ZHANG T ing-an, E-mail: zta2000 @ 163. net) Abstract: T he settling performance of digested red mud pulp during sw eetening process was investigated w ith Weipa ore from Australia and Al( OH) 3 as additions. Blanked experiments w ithout flocculant and w ith starch and A- 1000 as flocculants were conducted comparativel to clarif the effect of flocculant on the settling performance of red mud pulp, as w ell as the settling performance of sw eetened red mud pulp in comparison w ith that unsweetened. The results showed that appl ing the sw eetening process to treating ore can obviousl improve the settling performance of digested pulp, and the digested pulp w ith Weipa ore as the addition during the sw eetening process has better settling performance than w ithout addition or using other flocculants.
