P ytoremediation is considered as t e most efficient and prospective approac in removing contami2 nants in soil and water, and as been developed very quickly during t e last years. Considerable stud2 ies ave been carried out in cleaning up eavy metals and organic contaminants resided in environ2 ments. In t is paper, we summarized t e types of p ytoremediation. Processes of t e interaction of plants wit eavy metals and organic contaminants, t eir relevant mec anisms and possible impacting factors were also revealed in details. Finally, t e application and perspect ive of p ytoremediation in contaminated environments were presented. Key words p ytoremediat ion, eavy metals, organic contaminants, contaminated soil and water.
