S. Supreme Court ’s decision temporarily halted the imposition of the death penalty , the capital punishment was reinstated in 1976 . The U . S. A . is the only country that reserved death penalty for the most aggravated crimes in the western civilization countries. Currently , thirtynine states as well as the federal government have statutes providing for capital punishment , but the death penalty mostly was applied to the most serious murder . The death penalty case ’s procedure is more strictly and intricate than nodeath penalty case ’s , and there are many methods of execution in the Amer ican .
