上海交通大学硕士学位论文 ABSTRACT A STUDY OF SUZHOU WANGSHI GARDEN’S SPACE BASED ON THE RESEARCH OF ITS’S HISTORY ABSTRACT Classical Garden is an important part of our country’s rich culture heritage. As a distinguished and rare garden, Wangshi Garden with a long history of hundreds of years and a lot of generations’ effort, grew up to a great garden witch has profound artistic conception and cultural Accumulation. With a study on anthropology and Typology, based on the research of the remains of historical data about Wangshi Garden, taking the hosts, their ways of life in the garden, the conversion they had done to the garden as thread. The thesis has a study Wangshi Garden’s history and an analysis about the character of the space of each stage. The thesis also analyzed what an important role the masters’ lifestyle and their construction had played through the space transformation. The study abstracted two patterns of regulating spatial expanding, which is expanding in number and in mass and the space type they cased, juxtaposition and including. The thesis analyzed the main factor and its influence during the garden’s history. The thesis provided a new point of view to study gardens, deepened the cognition of the garden which is a collective group, and supplied some reference to modern urban planning, landscape design and architectural design.
