万方数据 万方数据 Abstract Selecting the recordings of the speech on the introduction of social media in Delaware State University as the interpreting material, the author endeavors to restore the authentic circumstance and conduct the simultaneous interpreting. With the advent and development of social media, people’s lifestyle has undergone tremendous changes. On one hand, with the introduction of a variety of foreign movies, TV shows, teleplays and radios to the Chinese market, interpretation is playing a vital role, and interpreting serves as a bridge of cultural spread and communication among the countries; On the other hand, the advent and increasing development of social media enables the world to connect with each other conveniently. Consequently, the interpreting of the introduction of social media appears to be imperative and important, which is conducive to the cultural spread and communication between two cultures, and the continuous development of interpreting. To achieve the three goals of interpretationaccuracy, fluency and completeness, the author makes some preparations on terminology and thematic knowledge. From the perspective of French translator D. Seleskovitch, understanding is the most important step in interpretation. Combining this theory with the interpreting practice, the thesis discusses the difficulties encountered during the interpretation, such as vocabulary, timeliness, accent and cultural differences. In terms of these difficulties, the author puts forward some solutions, such as the principles and requirements of interpretation, and the abilities on dealing with emergencies. The thesis is expected to provide referential significance to the development of social media and its interpretation.
