上海交通大学硕士学位论文 上海交通大学硕士学位论文 万方数据 万方数据 RESEARCH ON OPTIMIZATION ALGORITHMS FOR TRANSMISSION PERFORMANCE OF OPTICAL OFDM SYSTEMS ABSTRACT Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) belongs to a broader class of frequency-division multiplexing (FDM). It is characterized by mutually orthogonal sub-carriers. The modulated frequency spectrum of each sub-channel can overlap to decrease guard interval and improve spectrum utilization. After discrete Fourier transform (DFT) was used to achieve multi-carrier modulation, the complexity of the system was reduced, so OFDM technology has been developed rapidly. OFDM was brought into optical communications in 2005. And optical OFDM has become one of the promising multiplexing technologies for optical fiber communications due to its advantages of robustness against chromatic dispersion (CD) and polarization mode dispersion (PMD). In the thesis, the transmission performance of optical OFDM systems is optimized via several key technologies including symbol synchronization, channel estimation, and bit and power loading. Symbol synchronization is aimed to determine the starting position of each OFDM symbol, which is the guarantee of demodulation accuracy at receiver. Channel estimation obtains the crucial information of the transmission channel to enable compensation of various transmission impairments. Bit and power loading improves the bit rate in the premise of good transmission quality via adjusting modulation format and transmitted power. In the thesis, several theoretical and experimental studies are carried out on the above technologies as follows: Firstly, a new pilot-aided symbol synchronization algorithm is proposed. There is a non-zero part in the training sequence in time domain, III and at receiver the symbol synchronization can be obtained by finding out the special non-zero part in the training sequence. The computation complexity is reduced in the premise of high accuracy. The superior performance is demonstrated
