——————————————————————————————————————————————————————一Abstract ——————————————————————————————————————————————————————一 Abstract Ding Yanyong was one of early pioneers of Chinese oil painting in the 20m century．After leaving home to study and accepting the baptism of western modem art ideological trend，Ding Yanyong enjoyed a reputation in the art circles known as ccOriental Matisse”．actively devoted himself to the educational circles，vigorously promoted and spread the education of western painting，drove and influenced the art learning trend and creation concept of a batch of students and made great contributions to the development of early Chinese oil painting．After the 1 950s，Ding Yanyong went to Hong Kong southwards due to regime change and suffered from the pain of homelessness and 10neliness．However，he still stuck to artistic ereation in the predicament，committed himself to searching for the method of blending Chinese and western art and made some achievements in traditional Chinese painting，oil painting and seal cutting．Ding Yanyong Was not as famous as many calligraphers and painters in the history of modem Chinese painting，but he Was an excellent artist of an era undeniably,and efforts and contributions he made on the road of“localizing”oil painting and modernizing traditional Chinese ink painting were of great enlightening significance．This paper attempts to probe into the art career of Ding Yanyong from three aspects．Firstly，this paper teases basic information in the art course of Ding Yanyong，revises relevant historical facts about A BriefReview on the Solo Exhibition Works ofMr．Chen Shuren written by Ding Yanyong in the existing chronological life of Ding Yanyong through mining and sorting out the lifetime art historical facts of Ding Yanyong again，puts forward an important event--Joint Exhibition of Various Art Groups in Shanghai and fully expounds the significance of this event to Ding Yanyong．Secondly,this paper starts from the perspective of developm
