School of Automation, Harbin Engineering University, Harbin Heilongjiang 150001, China) Abstract: The frequency stability of a ship power system is determined by the dynamic characteristic of the diesel engine speed regulation system in the ship power station. In order to restrain the load disturbance and improve the dynamic precision of the diesel engine double-pulse speed governor, a controller is designed for a diesel engine speed regulation system with H-infinity control theory, which transforms the specifications of the system into a standard H-infinity control problem. Firstly, the mathematical model of a diesel engine speed regulation system using double-pulse H-infinity speed governor is presented. To counter external disturbance and model uncertainty, the design of a double-pulse H-infinity speed governor rests on the problem of mixed sensitivity. Finally, computer simulation shows that the double-pulse H-infinity speed governor improves the dynamic precision of the system and the ability to restrain the load disturbance in case of system model uncertainty, thus enhancing the frequency stability of a ship power system.
