T he hor i ontal gene tr ansfer not only takes place between microbial cells, but also happens between higher animals or plants, or be tw een plants and animals. T he hori ontal transfer of hereditary material is ubiquitous, w hich is an important motivity for biolog ical evolution. T ransgenic plants are the results of g enetic eng ineering, t he o neway artificial g ene transferr ing in plants.
