上海交通夫享奁监管理博士论文上海交通夫享奁监管理博士论文韩画金监海珊直接投疆疗式昀比较研究 ABSTRACT An Empirical Stud),on the Determinants of Foreign Direct Investment of Korea + (To comparative analysis between global MA and GFI) J1UNGKWAN， BYUN Department of Business Administration The SHANGHAI JIAOTONG Univ． 1．Introduction In recent yea r，the involvement of korean firms in foreign direct investment(FDI) activity has increased in number and volume．Generally,firm CaR initiate affiliate activities abroad in two different ways；either by building a new establishment(green field)or by ’ taking over an already existing firm(merger and acquisition MA)The two methods can be expected to result in in different benefits for the investing firms，therefore firms get to face decision making problems concerning the choice of their entry method． This stud)’examines the factor that influencing the korean firm’choice between MA and greenfield as a means of entering a foreign market．And the other object of this study is as follow：analysis of the characteristics of determinants that decide korean firm’choice between determinants and FDl method in korean firm and SO on． First of all，this stud),examined the FDI theory(theory of Monopolistic Advantages Internalization theory,Eclectic Theory,Product Life Cycle Theory,oligopolistic Reaction ‘ Theory Currency—Area phenomenon Theory)and precedent foreign studies on the MA(M．Dubin，1975；B．D．Wilson，1980；W．H．Davidson，1982；R E．Caves and S．K． Mehra，1986；M．C．Zejan，1990)and three domestic studies and above studies proves that the three characteristics(namely,parent firm characteristics，the characteristics of the product,and the characteristics of the host country markets)have greatly influenced on the choice of firms entry method．Accordingly,the theoretical framework for analysis of the determinants of the korean firms choice in establishing an affiliate by building a new plant or by acquiring an existing facility is provided by the above-mentioned theories and studies． In short，the main an
