Functions: Introduce yourself/ Greet people What’s your name? -My name is Gina. I’m Gina. Nice to meet you. 4. Vocabulary: personal names/ numbers0-9/ phone number/ first name/ last name/ Hi, Hello 5. Learning strategies: Practicing/ listening for specific information Lesson One (Period one) I. Teaching aims: In this first lesson, students learn how to make an introduction 1. Topic: Making new friends 2. Functions: Introduce yourself/ Greet people 3. Target language: What’s your/his/her name? My/His/Her name’s... I’m /He’s/She’s... 4. Learning strategies: Listening/ speaking/ III. Teaching process Step I. Lead in -Greeting and making an introduction Call the students’ English names in order to make them be familiar with the English names as soon as possible. Play games “Simon says” , follow the action as I say . Set up the situation (bring a toy baby to the classroom), and lead in the target language “Hello/ Hi/ Ggood morning/Good afternoon/How are you?/ Nice to meet you!” then ask some students to introduce themselves using the target language. Step II. Presentation Activity one (task one): Making new friends Have a free talk: -- Hi,my name is susan. Nice to meet you. -- Nice to meet you,too. -- What’s your name? -- My name is ... Then teach “What’s your/his/her name?” and answer “My/His/Her name is...” Work in groups and have a competition, the person who remember the names most is the winner. Eg. My name is... Your name is... His name is ... Her name is... Activity two (task two): show them the fingercots of people and introduce them: his name is ... her name is... Tell students they can also say “ he’s.../ she’s...” Hand out the figercots to students, ask them to practice. Activity three (task three) Watch the video and practice the simple introduction with
