ABSTRACT ABSTRACT With the development of the internet of things (IoT), more and more different sorts of network and network access have added to its architecture. The network and the network access play the role of ties in the whole structure of IoT, which lead to the integration of heterogeneous communication mechanisms becoming to the critical problem for building a robust architecture of IoT. Firstly, according to analyzing the characteristics of the existing commonly wired and wireless access methods, combined with the features of the integrating programs of the heterogeneous network, this thesis proposes an integrated program of protocol architecture which is based on the environment of the coverage of wired and wireless networks in IoT. Secondly, based on the management model of network selection of Heterogeneous Wireless Networks, this thesis classifies the management model of network selection which is used in IoT, and analyses the advantages and disadvantages of them. Refer to the application and characteristics of IoT, this thesis sums up the functional architecture and the implementation process of the access network selection in heterogeneous network environments, and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of these functional architectures.
