Method Statement for Removable Ground Anchor 1. Introduction In general, the excavation soil retaining system consists of CBP pile and struts. At certain locations of the CPB Wall, ground anchors are proposed. The Ground Anchor will need to be removed. This report provides the installation and removal procedures for the ground anchors. 2. Equipment Set-up i. Grouting Plant The grouting plant shall be located at suitable area in order to facilitate the grouting works. Consideration also has to be given to the supply of cement so that the storage area of the cement is near to the grouting plant. Access for the delivery of the cement has to be taken into account in order to avoid traffic problem on site, especially if the site is congested and a lot of other trades are on-going. ii. Water Supply Clean water supply free of oil contaminants is essential in the mixing of cement grout. Additionally, adequate water supply has to be provided for the drilling of ground anchors. iii. Fabrication Yard It is preferred that an area for the fabrication of the anchor tendons is identified on site. The area is to be free of any ponding or flooding of water due to heavy downpour. 3. Drilling Works Once the CBP pile has been completed for the anchor location, the drilling works shall commence. The installation of the ground anchors shall be done either with or without temporary casing depending on the suitability of the ground conditions. Should pressure grouting of the borehole be required to enhance skin friction, casing will be required. It is proposed to start the borehole with 170mm diameter drilling bit, and end the borehole with 165mm diameter drilling bit. The drilled angle will be 25 degree.
