Students will be able to have a good understanding of the reading passage by using different reading strategies: = 1 \* GB2 ⑴Reading for the topic of a passage = 2 \* GB2 ⑵Reading for the main idea of a certain paragraph = 3 \* GB2 ⑶Reading for guessing = 4 \* GB2 ⑷Reading for details 3. Students will be able to learn to solve the question testing on optional module by using different reading strategies. Teaching aid: Multi-media (computer projector) Teaching procedures: Step 1: Lead in A short story When I was a student like you, I often quarreled with my mother. I complained that she did not give me what I wanted but satisfied all the needs of my little sister. I hated her preference for my sister. Gradually, I realized I had misunderstood my mother. I was very regretful and decided to change it. As a result, I promised myself that I must study hard to live up to her expectations. I made the best of my spare time and finally I was admitted to a normal college. On hearing the good news, my mother smiled happily. Step2: Reading task 1 1. Let Ss go through the passage and complete the exercise below. Passage A It’s not easy being a teenager – nor is it easy being the parent of a teenager. You can make your child feel angry, hurt, or misunderstood by what you say without realizing it yourself.
