Research on Low Energy Consumption Ring Wireless Sensor Network Routing Protocol Abstract In the recent years, the research of wireless sensor network (WSN) technology has become very popular in the field of information acquisition. It involves the sensors, the computers, the signal processing, the microelectronics, the wireless networks communication and many other technology fields, with obviously interdisciplinary features. The wireless sensor networks have many characteristics, such as a large number of nodes, strong adaptability, and poor working condition and so on, which makes the wireless sensor networks have an extensive practical prospect, and limited energy. And this makes wireless sensor network development slow. Now how to effectively use the limited energy resources is a core issue for WSN. In this dissertation, the SRHR(Sleep mechanism of ring hierarchical routing protocol)is proposed by drawing on the LEACH(Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy) and the RHR(Ring hierarchical routing protocols).The main research work as follows ： First of all ，the designed ideas of the SRHR is proposed by analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the LEACH and the RHR. Specifically discussing the LEACH has its superiority; however the energy consumption of some sensor nodes is too large by the means of single-hop transmission and random cluster head election in protocol. The RHR protocol uses ring network architecture and Multi-hop transmission to solve this problem. But during the monitoring, the cluster head nodes need to consume a large amount of energy.
