ABSTRACTABSTRACT ABSTRACT ABSTRACT Guangzhou is a famous city with long history and cultural traditions．Since the modern era，the city modernization of Guangzhou started before the most domestic cities and developed fakly quickly．In the period of the Republic of China，the city modernization of Guangzhou was fully open out．As one of the important modern contents and symbols，the cause of fire fighting had been rapid development． This paper mainly discusses the evolution of Guangzhou’s fire fighting in the period of the Republic of China．The first step gives a basic introduction to Guangzhou’s conflagrations in the period of the Republic of China．Secondlya brief analysis has been done to the evolution of Guangzhou’s fire fighting system，with the discussion of fire fighting and winter prevention，conflagration legal system and precaution system． And then，the author makes a study on the policeman of fire fighting and the evolution of the civilian fire organizations．Finally,in this paper,the author analyses the relationship between the fire fighting and the city modernization in the period of the Republic of China in Guangzhou，and the author argues that the course of fire fighting in the period of the Republic of China promoted the city modernization of Guangzhou from the aspects of municipal construction，urban management，urban economic development and so on,but its limitation prevented the city modernization of Guangzhou for further development． In short，in this paper,on the basis of OUr predecessors’study,from the macro perspective，the author attempts to propose a more comprehensive and systematic review to the fire fighting in Guangzhou in the period of the Republic of China，thereby providing some help for well understanding the history of Guangzhou． Key words：in the period of the Republic of China；Guangzhou；the fire fighting； city modernization Ⅱ 广州大学学位论文原创性声明本人郑重声明： 广州大学学位论文原创性声明 本人郑重声明： 所呈交的学位论文，是本人在导师的指? 导下， 独立进行研究工作所取得的成果。除文中已经注明引 用的内容外， 本论文不含任何其他个人或集体已经发表或撰 写过的作品成果
