ABS’J1RAC。l’Gu ABS’J1RAC。l’ Gu is an imagined venomous insect in ancient legend，which survive from struggling with other venomous insect in a box．The gu is used to harm people．The concept of gu in Han people come from imagining the relation between the cause of illness and the witch behavior．People fear the gu and the men who feed them．In late historical writings，and particularly from Ming times on ward，gu is also associated with non-Han people．The Miao people is imagined especially by Han people．The imagination has made Han people fearing the Miao people by illness， rumor，and cultural product． The rumor of gu croSS through ethnic border and prevail in Miao society．A belief of“gu”as a kind of poisoning witchcraft also prevail among the Miao．Many cases of the illness or death of human or their animals are blamed on“gu”．The villagers distant the man with gu far from themselves．They don’t get touch with the men who come from the family of gu till it is necessary．The taboo of gu prevent the villagers from marrying with them． The rumor of gu in Han society can be discuss in public．The rumor in Miao society can be discuss only in private．The Han people imagine the Miao people bringing illness with poison．The villagers in Miao society also imagine some other making them in troubles． Imagine and rumor have an effect on our society．Someone is imagined，hurt and rejected．It is not because of their behaviors and moralities．It moralities．It is only because that they are looked and treated as the other． KEY WORDS： miao／hmong，poison，Rlmor，imagination． 引言第一节研究的缘起 引言 第一节研究的缘起 蛊的传说由来已久。在众多充满神秘色彩的传说中，放蛊者大都是苗人。从 武侠小说到电影电视，从正史、地方志到边地游记。 蛊到底是怎么回事?苗人是否会放蛊?2004年年初，在和导师潘蚊商讨硕 士论文选题时，我们谈到了这些问题。在潘蛟教授的鼓励和指导之下，我对这个 有着神秘感的问题产生强烈的求知欲，并开始着手对此问题的研究。 虽然我是个苗人，但是我对这个问题的所知甚少。于是，我找到了中国社会 科学院民族研究所的石茂明博士，请他给我一些帮助。石先生建议我不要做这个 题目。他也是～个苗人，知道其中困难很多，担心我应付不了。石茂明博士建议 我做贵州省黔东南的旅游开发研究。因为黔东南的旅游开发与云南等地的旅游开 发有很大的不同，可能会有新的成果。但是，我当时决心已定，我不可以轻易地 就这么放弃了。我谢绝了石茂明先生的建议，继续坚持自己的选择。后来，从石 茂明先生那里，我得到了李德芳的文章。遗憾的是文章只有上半部分，但是从题 目《蛊
