Republic of China was founded, and Luan State was changed to Luan County, Yingshan County was assigned to Hubei Province in 1932, Lihuang County was changed to Jinzhai County in 1947. During the period of Republic of China, the concept of Western Anhui included the county of Luan, Huoshan, Lihuang (now Jinzhai), Shucheng, Yuexi and etc., while Yingshan, Qianshan and Taihu will be involved in some parts. Wanxi region, a major tea producing area of Anhui, is also one of Chinas largest teas producing area. Western Anhui is a famous historical tea area, tea production was in a large proportion of the whole agricultural production. Relatively, county Luan, Huoshan, Jinzhai produced more tea in the whole region, provided with the world-famous Luan Guapian tea and Huoshan Yellow tea. During the period of the republic of China, when the Anti-Japanese War broke out, tea industry development has experienced very complicated changes in just 30 years. Years of everlasting wars and heavy taxes led economic depression and inflation, which made tea farmers’ lives very difficult. Meanwhile, tea plantation became barren, and yields of tea had fallen to the lowest level in history. On the other hand, under the influence of the Second World War and the battle for the tea markets by the newly-emerging nation of tea production, Dutch East Indies (Indonesia), India, Ceylon (Sri Lanka) rase up successively, making the yield of foreign tea increased. In addition, the mechanization of tea processing made the tea more competitive in the international tea market. By contrast, Chinese tea refused to make any progress, resulting the production and trade from even bad to worse. Western Anhui has many natural advantages: the high-lying southwest, lower in northeast, formed trapezoidal distribution and three kinds of natural topographies, mountainous, plains and hills.
