GVDP v5.0 Update 22 May 2006 * PPAP status occurs 10 weeks earlier in GVDP 5.0 than it did in GVDP 4.1. This earlier status date also carries with it an earlier submit date although the submit date is not dictated in the GVDP. The reason for an earlier PPAP Status is so that we may have a known quality status for parts when the PPV (formerly PVV) build commences. The PPAP process (note that the Blue text is a hyperlink to additional detail on this process) has also been revised to drive suppliers to be fully approved by PPAP Gate 1. This is the documented expectation but internally we track a glide-path to being fully approved by Gate 3. In addition, there are new driver codes that are used to status parts prior to the PPV build. Program teams are encouraged to use the PQRR process to track the completion of this glidepath and utilize appropriate issue escalation if issues are identified. Note that for PPV, parts are anticipated to be mostly “first shots” of production tools and these are considered non-saleable status. Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) will determine if these parts are acceptable for the PPV build by reviewing dimensional, material, and functional aspects. Appearance is not an issue for this build. It is the responsibility of MSO to schedule the PPV material. In the event that PPV parts may not be obtained from production tools, them PPO will procure parts and it will be the responsibility of the Design Engineer to status these using the GP-11 system.
