Ability Objects Develop students’ reading strategies, such as skimming and scanning. And they can retell the article with the help of the mind map c. Moral Objects Being a volunteer is helpful for one’s future job. And students should know---to love others is to love ourselves. II. Teaching Key Points How to help the students read the article in a more effective way. III. Teaching Difficulties a. How the students can retell the article with the help of the mind map; b. How the students can design a mind map. IV. Teaching Methods a. Audio-visual teaching method; b.Task-based teaching method V. Teaching Aids An English textbook ,a projector and a blackboard. VI. Teaching Procedures Step 1. Lead-in Greet students in everyday English Step 2. Pre-reading Prediction:Predict what they will read about according to the title and the pictures. Purpose: make students curious about the passage and get ready for it.Then watch a video:Global Volunteer. Then ask some questions to attract attention. Step3 While-reading Skimming Ask students to match the main ideas with each paragraph by skimming the article; Skim the passage to get the structure and the main idea of each paragraph. Purpose: make students get an overall understanding of the passage. Here I do not offer students the answers directly but give them a tip to teach them how to learn.
