ABSTRACT ABSTRACT With increasing complexity of embedded system, the quality of embedded software plays an important role in embedded system. So the technology of embedded software testing has become one of the hot topics of software testing technology. AMC produces the first special embedded software on-line testing tool in the world, named “CodeTEST”, which is one of the most popular embedded software testing tools, and it provides the real-time and high-efficiency solution. This project adopts the data collection advantage of CodeTEST, and ameliorates several aspects in real-time, flexibility and high-cost. It takes full advantage of the capability of data-processing of FPGA and the ability of quick data transfers of USB interface, finally accomplishs the data collection system of the embedded software on-line testing. This subject mainly describes the principle and framework of data-collection system, presents its hardware circuit designation, USB interface hardware and firmware, testing interface, and so on. Data collection and data transmission are key technology in this project. In the way of data collection, we choose a solution of data collection by monitoring bus without sampling data; in the way of data transmission, we adopt USB interface that is flexibility, and data is directly transmited to PC without a special processor, it improves real-time and flexibility, and decreases its cost. Finally, functions and performance of this data collection can satify our most requirements in embedded software on-line testing.
