The module yields on impact, therefore reducing the risk of injury. The side impact protection is fitted diagonally into the doors. On a front crash or impact, they deform upwards or downwards and do not pierce the A or B pillars. This provides easier access for rescue teams, as the doors are not blocked by the side impact protection.
