The Hankou concession went into the prosperous period. At the same time, the building industry in the concession took on a thriving scene, which promoted foreign architecture design firms appeared. HemmingsBerkley Architects Office is a British architect office found during this period, which is the most active and important architectural design institution in the Hankou concession. The architects there designed lots of various buildings, the style varied from Neo-classical to Art- deco and to Modern, which structured the epitome of Wuhan Architecture of that period. Study on the works and design ideas of HemmingsBerkley Architects Office will be helpful for researching Wuhan modern architecture in the early 20th century.
