Based on the study on the changing laws of elastic energy index curve for different types of gas fields, the development stages of gas fields were divided. The demarcation method was applied combining with the instances. The application indicates that the method is scientific, simple and has strong rationality and operability, which provides a new thinking to divide the development stages of gas fields and has great significance for deeply understanding the life circle of gas fields.
