Characteristics of an application letter The Layout of the Application Letter Styles of the Application Letter Procedures of Writing An Application Letter What is an application letter? 求职信是说明求职者经历、能力的信函。它是突出求职者相关学历、经历、能力、业绩等的重要手段，从而获得面试的机会，并最终获得所谋求的职位。求职信可分为两大类：自荐信和推荐信，本章着重于自荐信。 Characteristics of an application letter 求职信不同于其他题材的英语书信，不要求词藻华丽讲究。既要简明有趣，与众不同，又不宜过于古怪。其特点有： 1 Clearness:突出求职主题，直截了当，层次分明； 2 Conciseness：行文简洁说清必要内容，不提与求职无关的事，以短句为主； 3 Correctness：用语准确并避免过多使用形容词和副词； 4 Politeness：语气要有礼貌，不卑不亢； 5 Objectiveness：用语客观，多使用委婉语气； 6 Moderateness：不宜过度夸大自身能力，甚至凭空捏造。 The Layout of the Application Letter 求职信的格式虽然有细微的差别，但总体上是基本固定不变的。 信头 (Heading) 信头是求职者本人的地址，用作招聘单位的回信地址，因而应当准确无误。如信的样式为齐头型，信头每行均应顶格书写；如为缩进型或综合型，则信头应位于右上方，每行开头对齐。 日期 (Date) 日期在信头下方，与信头间隔一行。如信的样式为齐头型，日期应顶格书写；如为缩进型或综合型，则日期应位于右上方，与信头的开头对齐。 信内姓名及地址 (Inside Name and Address) 信内姓名及地址是收信人，即招聘单位或招聘负责人的名称或地址，应当具体准确，与信封上的写法一致，在日期下方隔一行处书写于左下方。 称呼(Salutation) 称呼位于信内姓名及地址下方隔一行处，并顶格书写。 正文(Body) 正文是求职信的最重要部分，各段间均宜间隔一行。如信的样式为齐头型或综合型，正文各段均应顶格书写；如为缩进型，则各段应空5格书写。 结束问候语(Complimentary Close) 结束问候语与正文间隔一行书写。如信的样式为齐头型，应顶格书写；如为缩进型或综合型，则宜与日期的开头对齐。 署名(Signature) 位于结束问候语下方，应为亲笔署名。 附件(Attachment) 即所附简历等，应予以注明，并顶格书写于署名下方隔一行处。  齐头型(Blocked Style) 每个部分都是顶格书写，段落的开头也不空格，更便于编排。 缩进型(Indented Style) 信头和日期位于右上方，各段开头空5格，结束问候语及署名位于右下方，其他部分顶格书写。 综合型(Modified Style) 信头和日期位于右上方，结束问候语及署名位于右下方，其他部分均顶格书写。 Procedures of Writing An Application Letter to write the heading to add the date to write the inside name and address to present the salutation to compose the body to write the complimentary close to add the signature to enclose the attachment to write the heading Usually, the address is written line by line.
