The underwriters are responsible for the claim as far as it is within the scope of cover. May I ask what exactly insurance covers according to your usual CIF terms? WPA coverage is too narrow for a shipment of this nature, please extend the coverage to include TPND. The coverage is WPA plus Risk of Breakage. In the insurance business, the term “average” simply means “loss” in most cases. All our export goods sold on CIF terms are insured with the PICC. They can provide a broad range of marine insurance, for example, FPA, WPA, All Risks and Extraneous Risks. Extraneous risks such as TPND, leakage, breakage, freshwater, etc. can also be covered upon request. I’ ll have your insurance changed from WPA to All Risks for 110% of CIF invoice value as per the Ocean Marine Cargo Clauses of the PICC. Insurance for All Risks will cover the compensation of damaged goods, but the premium is relatively high. According to the international practice, we do not insure against such risks unless they are called for by the buyers. Although our usual practice is to insure the goods at the invoice value plus 10%, we are prepared to get cover for 130% of the invoice value. In terms of CIF, we would offer WPA for you. I must point out that as a rule, the extra premium will be for your account, and the coverage is for 110% of the invoice value only.
