Why needed? a. can help make results of your research comprehensible to readers because some readers are interested only in summaries and conclusions than in details b. can buttress our argument by revealing complex relationships in a way that prose alone often cannot. When needed? A. Long series of numbers in the body of a paper can interfere with the development of an argument. If statistics fit smoothly into the text, so much the better.
