In this article, the authors try to discuss the effects of opposite medicine, hemostatics in TCM. From the medication theories of both western and TCM, the authors believe that the hemostatic medicine can not only stagnate the bleeding, but also maintain normal blood status, cut blood supply to tumor cells, promote body function and remove harmful materials. When used with expectorants, those effects of hemostatics are strengthened. So hemostatics and expectorants are together called Zhixue Huatan medicine in TCM. By thinking in two opposite ways, the philosophy of “view things as a whole” in TCM is manifested. Therefore, it is necessary to broaden our theory to do more research on hemostatic medicine in preventing tumor metastasis.
