Understand the importance of making polite requests, and know how to make requests politely, then you will become better at English Step 1 Lead in 1. Greetings 2. Lead in (1) T: Oh, I need a pen. (Ask a student) “Could you please lend me your pen?” S1:Sure, here you are. T: Thank you. (板书):Could you please lend me your pen? (2) Ask students to read the conversation in the first picture. ( Show it on the screen) A: Excuse me, could you please tell me where to park my car? B: Sure. Park it right here. I’ll help you. (3) Ask students to read the conversation in the second picture. ( Show it on the screen) A: Where’s the post office? B: Sorry. I can’t help you. (4) Ask the students: T: Which conversation is more polite? S: The second one. T: Now please predict what we will learn today. S: Something about language etiquette. (5)Show the “learning strategy” on the screen, explain it in Chinese. The culture of a nation is in its language. It is not enough to only know correct grammar. It is also very important to know how to choose suitable language for every situation. Step 2 Reading 1.
