This reading passage is about a vivid description of the school life in Manchester made by Wei Hua, a Chinese girl who once studied in the UK. The students who are expected to learn this unit are the new comers to high schools. They will certainly curious about British high school life as well as their own school life. So the topic is an amazing one for the students, and it will definitely stimulate the students’ interest since they can imagine and arrange their own new school life. Before this lesson, I’ll 1.Ask the students to prepare for a free-talk for about two or three minutes. They can introduce themselves to their classmates or say something about their junior middle school life, or even make a plan for their high school life. This will help all the students to take part in in-class activities and help them adapt to high school life quickly. If some students really have some difficulty in doing this, the teacher can help them to prepare for it before class. 2.
