The VOBC automatically determines the diameter of each wheel equipped with a speed sensor. Sets of two specially coded transponders are used for this operation. It is recommended that these transponders be located at a place on the guideway. Multiple locations may be used for this function and they do not have to be within ATC territory. When the VOBC crosses these two transponders, it will compare the distance measured by the speed sensor with the actual distance as specified in its database. The values will be compared, and the actual wheel diameter relative to the nominal diameter will be determined. The Type B transponders (or B-tags) are the same as the type A transponders mentioned above, except that they are powered externally via wires. The B-tags are connected directly to the signal supply circuit. ACBs also contain signals, but not all ACBs are bounded by signals. Floodgates are located south of South Xixang Road Station and north of ZhouJia Road Station. 1. Type A are battery powered and are used to determine train position.
