Globalist The Globalist is a daily online magazine that “focuses on the economics, politics and culture” of globalization. “The Globalist” “aims to provide current and up to date news analysis and perspectives on wide ranging global issues that touch all global citizens”. It claims to be a unique international magazine that “accepts articles from authors across the globe and attempts to provide a voice to all in order to better understand the processes and impacts of globalization”. Its offices are based in Washington, DC, United States and it began publishing on January 3, 2000. The Globalist was founded by Stephan Richter, who is also its Publisher and Editor in Chief. The Globalist, in addition to its English language flagship, also publishes German and French language editions. Uncle Sam Uncle Sam (initials U.S.) is a common national personification of the American government that, according to legend, came into use during the War of 1812 and was supposedly named for Samuel Wilson. The first use of Uncle Sam in literature was in the 1816 allegorical（寓言的）book “The Adventures of Uncle Sam in Search After His Lost Honor” by Frederick Augustus Fidfaddy. An Uncle Sam is mentioned as early as 1775, in the original “Yankee Doodle”（一首在美国广为传唱的歌曲，康涅狄格州州歌） lyrics of the Revolutionary War. It is not clear whether this reference to Uncle Sam is a metaphor for the United States.
