Since ancient times, it was the major relay station（驿站） on the Southern Silk Road(南方丝绸之路） and the most important port facing Southern Asia. Tengchong was called the “City of Jadeite” and generally known as an important processing and trading center of jadeite （翡翠）in Southeast Asia and China. 腾冲历史悠久，自古就是南方丝绸之路上的重要驿站，是中国面对东南亚的重要口岸。腾冲还是世人公认的东南亚和国内的主要翡翠加工经营中心和集散地，因此被誉为翡翠城。;Tengchong is a famous provincial historical and cultural city ,too.;The National Tengchong Geothermal and Volcano Scenic Area consist of the National Geology Park of Volcanoes and the Hot Sea. With the most densely clustered over 90 volcanoes and 80 hot springs in China, Tengchong forms a unique and splendid (壮丽的）landscape.;;Said so much, maybe many travelers do not understand what is the volcano? Then we are going to the National Geology Park of Volcanoes together. ;Everybody please look , this is the National Geology Park of Volcanoes , the park gate and each flagstone(石板）under your foot all take from rich lava of Tengchong .The walls outside the gate were inlaid（镶嵌的）with volcanic pumice stones（火山石） giving a simple yet elegant impression. Now let us feel the infinite mystery of earth together. ;;Da’ying Mountain, the most magnificent one in Tengchong, is 12 km from town and 2,614 meters above sea level. Its crater with diameter of 300 meters is 100 meters deep. At the bottom, there are three seasonal volcanic lakes.
