Most students are able to find the detailed information of the text by careful reading. 3. Some students are able to describe people of achievement use some adjectives of personal qualities. Teaching Procedures: Procedures Time Teacher’s Activities Students’ Activities Purposes Pre-reading 2’ Check homework. Look at the screen and speak out the the Chinese meaning of each word To help the students be prepared for the following reading tasks. While-reading Prediction 5’ Ask the students to predict what the text is about by glancing through the title and pictures. Predict the content of the text according to the pictures and title. To train the students to get an idea of what a text is about by predicting. Fast reading 5’ Ask the students to read the text fast and then match each paragraph with its main idea. Read the text fast and match the main idea of each paragraph. To develop the students’ skimming ability and help them to get a general understanding of the text. Careful reading 6’ Ask the students to read para.1 carefully and fill in the blanks Read para.1 carefully and then finish task1. To develop the students’ scanning ability and help them to get a further understanding of the text. 6’ Ask the students to read para.2para.3 carefully and then find out the information. Read para.2para.3 carefully and then finish task2. To develop the students’ scanning ability and help them to get a further understanding of the text. Post-reading 15’ Ask the students work in groups to discuss the question“What kind woman do you think Jane Goodall is ?
