Invitation & Reply Why do we write an invitation? A letter of invitation is written to people inviting them for a special occasion or event in your personal and professional life. An invitation letter is written for business events as well as for personal occasions like birthdays, family reunion, etc. What should be written in an invitation? Invitations are written in the deductive pattern and are relatively short . Either kind of invitation, however, must do three things: Invite the reader to the gathering Offer a reason for the gathering Give the date , time , and place of the gathering A conversational, cordial and sincere invitation will make the invited people feel comfortable and happy to accept . Types of Invitation Written （ formal ） Verbal (casual) Verbal e.g. a I haven't seen you for a long time. You must come round for dinner sometime. ( 好久不见了。什么时候一定过来吃饭啊。 ) b It's good seeing you.
