ARCHIBUS in Your Organization

HealthCare System; Michael Shearin, Solutions Manager, BRG
Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS) is the second largest not-for-profit healthcare system in the
country. Located in the southeast, CHS provides continuing medical care to patients in North and
South Carolina through a network of approximately 500 care locations including hospitals,
physician practices, surgical and rehabilitation centers, home health agencies, nursing homes
and other facilities. These operations comprise more than 1,500 employed physicians, 6,300
licensed beds, 48,000 staff and over 12 million square feet.
ARCHIBUS was initially implemented at CHS as a means to track space utilization at the primary
acute care locations in support of the Medicare and Medicaid cost report submissions. However,
as awareness of the system grew, so, too, did the requests for additional functionality. The
purpose of this session is to share how CHS is managing this surge of growth in a systematic,
strategic manner and to highlight some of the additional, unforeseen value-added benefits.
