Dear Sir or Madam, As a professor at the School of Economics of Peking University, I am pleased to write this letter to recommend Qi Zhang, a brilliant and hardworking senior school graduate for admission into your university. I met Zhang for the first time in May 2012 during the “Excellent CEO Course” on modern corporate management held by Peking University. In order to broaden his horizons he joined the course with his father, one of the best known entrepreneurs in Chinese paper industry. During the 3-day course, Zhang quite enjoyed the lectures and enthusiastically engaged himself to class discussions. Despite being only 18 years old and a high school student, he showed great talents for and familiarity with modern corporate management. When we talked about the effects of moral principles and Confucianism on Chinese business operation, Zhang’s point of view amazed us all. He believed the Confucianism is an absolute choice for Chinese entrepreneurs in pursuit of harmonious company culture. Furthermore, Confucian culture and modern enterprise systems should be combined so that free competition is activated and vigorous innovation can be inspired. His remarkable comments and ideas were highly spoken of by most anticipants of the lectures. I think this kind of thoughts is essential to an excellent student with a critical spirit. After the lecture, I had another chat with the promising young man and I learned that he would like to get his university education abroad. He gave me the blueprint of his life for the next 10 years: to gain extensive knowledge abroad, make comprehensive self-improvement and then establish his own business.
