FURTHER INFORMATION 1210 Drawings GS04-7690 SI 1 Location Plan and Longitudinal Section Appendix: Borehole Logs EFCP Results Laboratory Test Report  Introduction In order to obtain the sub-surface information on the foundation of underbridge at WEE WAA 600.500km on the North West Narrabri to Walgett Branch Line, a geotechnical investigation was carried out on 25th May 2004 and completed on 29th May 2004 by RIC Geotechnical Services. The main structures of this bridge include more than 60 timber openings and several steel openings, with different spans, totalling approximately 388m. For a safe and long term service, many timber openings need to be repaired or stabilised/reinforced, therefore, renewal of this bridge seems increasingly critical to avoid much maintenance cost and high risks. This geotechnical investigation was mainly focused on general engineering properties of substrata in the bridge foundation and abutments. This report presents the results of the geotechnical investigation and proposes geotechnical design parameters/options for foundations of underbridge to be renewed.
