He had a close relationship with royal family . He visited many European continental countries , such as Belgium, France and Italy. He once acted as customs official and judges , and had rich life experience. Geoffrey Chaucer had translated French poems. His early literature creations were influenced by France literature. After traveling the original place of European Renaissance , Italy , Chaucer came into contact with the Italian literature and was impressed deeply by Dante(1265--1321)、Petrarch(1304--1374)、Boccaccio’s(1313--1375) Italian humanism literature . His famous word are The Book of the Duchess(1836)、The Parliament of Fowls(1380)、The House of Fame(1374—1384)、Troilus and Criseyde(1380—1385) and his masterpiece , The Canterbury Tales (1386--1400). Chaucer was interred in Westminster Abbey , so after that, the Westminster Abbey became the poet’s corner. The original plan: Chaucer originally planed to write 120 stories, 2 for each pilgrim to tell on the way to Canterbury and 2 more on the way back.
