Ask the students to guess one word from a sentence. Students’ activity Be clear about the objectives of this period. Try to get the word --- “family” 2min Task introduction Teacher’s activity Introduce the background of this unit and this period: Some new classmates have become friends. In order to get everyone to know more about each other, Head Teacher wants everyone to introduce his or her own family to friends and have a small speech about their families in the next week’s class meeting. Introduce the background of this period: Let’s see what three pairs of friends (David and Lin Hai, Cindy and Li Lan, Tom and Jiang Tao) are talking about. Students’ activity Keep in mind the background and prepare for the listening activity. 14min While-learning Teacher’s activity Help students to learn about the family members by Lin Hai’s photo sharing with David. Ask students to listen to three pairs of friends’ talking about their family photo. Encourage students to do pair work to practice get some simple information about family members.
