Luxury burial was advocated in all feudal dynasties in China as an expression of filial piety. Once an emperor died, a great amount of money and labor would be spent on bulking his tomb, and such tombs materialize fully the ancient Chinese belief in spirit, their politics, morality, and aesthetics. Moreover, they represent the level of economy, science and technology, as well as architecture of their times, for they were constructed with the power of the whole nation. The format of emperor’s tombs varies, but consists of two parts in general, the upper and the underground. The main section underground is the coffin chamber, usually filled with a big number of burial objects.
