Corn Header On the flip-up models, as the auger is only driven from the right hand side, the auger tube is used to transfer the drive across the header. Self aligning drive connections automatically connect and disconnect the auger tube drive when the header is folded Corn Header During harvesting the gathering points float freely above the ground. These are set by adjusting the support bolts to change the angle of the point. Should the maize be lodged, the points lift the crop while guiding the stalks to the gathering chains. At the rear of the points are two rubber retainers, these prevent loose cobs from falling out of the front of the header. Corn Header The gathering points and dividers covers are precisely shaped to maximise efficiency. There is a drop behind the floating point, this prevents the cobs from falling out of the header (1) The top section of the cover is profiled to ensure all cobs fall to the gathering chains eliminating a build up of crop at the front of the header (2) Finally at the rear of the dividing covers there is a drop into the auger trough, this allows the auger to quickly remove cobs from the gathering chains. Corn Header From the gathering points, the crop passes to the gathering chains. The chains feed the stalks between the deck plates and towards the stalk rolls. Each pair of chains run at the same speed, with 7 fingers on each chain keeping the stalk moving back towards the auger. The chains are self tensioning, with a spring loaded sprocket at the front of the header. Corn Header Below the gathering chain, the crop rolls pull the maize down through the header. The rolls contra rotate, gripping the stalks. The knife rolls are designed for hard maize conditions, cutting the stalks while feeding them through the row unit.
