To get stude nts to talk about the main topic of this unit in a comfortable and relaxed manner
Focus stude nts atte nti on onlearnin gthe
goals for the unit and expla in that the focus of this unit is on time management. Ask stude nts to look at the picture and to describe what they see. (A stude nt is working on an assig nment very late at ni ght. ) Read the words in the boxes aloud, modeli ng the correct pronun ciati on and eliciting their meanings. Give students several minu tes to complete the passage.

Nomi nate stude nts to read the passage around the class. Ask stude nts: Do you have a schedule as busy as this? What y schedule like?
Have stude nts liste n and repeat the words and the expressi on, teach ing the definition for each one. You can check their comprehe nsion by ask ing questi ons, such as: What is ano ther word for homework? (assig nment) What is the verb we use to describe miss ing a class? (skip) What is ano ther word for stude nt accommodatio n? (dormitory ) Once stude nts seem comfortable with the new words and the expressi on, have them complete Exercise B and the n switch books. Go through the an swers, calli ng on differe nt stude nts each time. Correct any errors.
If you want to, you can start each class with a short spelling test, which works quite well as a warm-up.
