The Associated Press with the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research asked 1,075 people, aged 50 and older. One?fourth of them said they never planned to retire. Among people who earn(挣钱) less in that age group that is even truer than the ones who earn more. In America, as tradition(传统), the age of 65 is the common age to retire. Sixty percent of people aged 50 to 64 said they expected to work past their 65th birthday. More than half of those who are already older than 65 said they planned to keep working too. They said they were working 31 hours a week. Those 50 years of age or older said money was the most important reason that affected(影响) when to retire. Most of the workers—especially those who are 65 and older—plan to move into a new profession(行业), as they come into the later years. One?third of people earning less than 5,000 a year said they would keep working. About twenty percent of those who earn more than 100,000 said they would never retire.
