A further question to ask the students is what type of energy do the crates gain when lifted by the crane (gravitational potential energy), and how the equation used to calculate GPE compares with the equation to calculate work done. It may be worth pointing out to students that the force needed to lift an object is the same as the weight of the object. For example, the force needed to lift a 10,000N box is 10,000N.
