There are 2 photocell input connections, print trigger 1 and print trigger 2 The actual device may be a photocell, proximity detector, micro-switch etc. NPN or PNP devices may be used by selecting the position of links on JB1 on the IO card. NPN is the default The supply voltage is 12V dc, 200mA max. The supply is isolated, and the inputs are opto-isolated. 200mA is the TOTAL rating of the supply (PECs and shaft encoder) The shaft encoder uses the same isolated 12 V dc 200mA supply as the PECs Quadrature shaft encoders are often used where there is some movement of the shaft encoder in the reverse direction. The 90o out-of-phase signal is used to sense direction and compensate for the backlash. Quadrature shaft encoders may be used by selecting the position of link JB2. When using quadrature shaft encoders, special software must be used to sense direction. When using quadrature shaft encoder software, the width must be set to 1, which means that the shaft encoder must be specified accurately, or an external divider must be used. Signal A is a standard output shaft encoder. Signal A and B are dual outputs. The shaft encoder signals are opto-isolated. The traffic light module is connected to the “status o/p” connector on the connector panel. The standard module consists of a traffic light stack (red, amber, green) but an optional siren and/or strobe light may be fitted. The I/o card supplies 24V to the lamps, and the return signal is grounded to switch the lamps on.
