Step 1 Lead-in
1. Read a dialogue.
T: Hello, boys and girls, today we will learn Study skills of Unit 3. First, read a dialogue with your partner.
2. Watch a video.
T: Let’s watch the video of the dialogue and find out the difference between your speaking and the actors’.
T: When the actors are talking, they stress some important words. That makes the dialogue livelier. Today we are going to learn stress in sentences.

Step 2 Presentation
1. What should we stress?
T: When we want to stress some words in a sentence, we should pay attention to these three questions: What should we stress? How do we stress them? And why do we stress them? First let’s talk about the first question. What should we stress in a sentence? When we speak English, we often stress important words. These words are usually thecontent words. Watch the video about content words.
2. Content words and structure words.
T: Content words includenouns, main verbs, adjectives and adverbs. We do not usually stress less important words. These words are usually the structure words. Watch the video about structure words.
T: Structure words include: articles, prepositions, pronouns, auxiliary verbs and conjunctions.

1. Read the sentences.
